I am so excited about this new product, Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray by John Frieda. It is my new favorite product right now, and it was cheap, around $10 at Walmart (probably even cheaper in the USA).
I get my hair highlighted at the hair dresser every two months or when I can afford it. The John Frieda Controlled Lightening Spray is a life saver! It hid all my roots, now I will save a ton of money on my hair. I tried it while on holidays and I look like I went to the salon. I washed my hair and then sprayed this on my roots just at the top of my head every day. Within 3 days I noticed a difference. I continued using it for a total of 5 days. I had to actually stop applying it because I didn’t want my roots lighter than the rest of my hair.
I wish I took a before picture so I could show how great it works. But I really didn’t think it would work when I bought it. Boy, was I wrong! To make it even better, the bottle seems to last for a long time.
Anyone with blonde highlights should try this product. Its great! I will be using it all the time and I am going to see how long I can go without going to the hair salon.

Update
So it has been five months since I started using the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray and I still have NOT gone to the salon. As a matter of fact, people keep complimenting me on my nice hair asking me where I had my hair done. I love this product, it has got to be my most favorite thing ever! I am so glad I found this, it has saved me a fortune. I am only on my third bottle in five months. That is a huge savings compared to two times at the hair salon.
Update – June 1st, 2014
I still use John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray. I have been using it for over three years now and still use it on a regular basis. I probably spray it in my roots once a week or less and still am able to achieve the blonde hair that I desire. 🙂 I’ve only been to the salon once to colour my hair for a big event since I started using the lightening spray. I don’t see myself going to a salon to dye my hair anytime soon.
If you want to see current pictures of my hair colour you can see them on my Twitter or Facebook.
OK this is making me feel better. I started using this product about a month ago and I LOVE it. But then I started reading scary reviews about hair falling out and crazy stuff like that and started freaking out. I take really good care of my hair – I’m naturally pretty blonde and I only highlight about 1-2 times a year and I wanted to start using this instead of my yearly highlighting sessions. But I don’t want it to fall out and break off. So hearing that your hair is doing good with it helps. I have used it ~6 times and my hair still feels really soft. I massage coconut oil on my whole head about once a month though and only heat style about 3 times a week. Hopefully my hair is okay. I worked so hard to grow it out!
Glad you have also discovered this great product! How often do you use it? I used to use it a few times a week but now I can keep my hair blonde by using it about every 10 days. I would recommend that after you get the blonde hair you desire that you use it less often. It does contain hydrogen peroxide so that is why it can damage your hair and dry it out. I recommend using deep conditioning treatments once a week to help nourish your hair. 🙂 I’ve been using it for years and love it!
I used it about 2-3 times a week for a few weeks when I first got it but now I’m taking a break until I get grow out. My ends do feel a bit dry, but no noticeable breakage. I only highlighted my hair once or twice a year before I found this stuff, and if it doesn’t kill my hair I think I’m going to stop highlighting altogether. I live in Seattle, but if I lived somewhere with more sun I probably wouldn’t ever highlight anyways just cuz my hair lightens so much in the sun. You can see my results on my Instagram @smashleyrenee1 😉
Looks like we might have similar hair colours, I just followed you on Instagram, I’m @ImLovingThis. I’m obsessesed with this product and I will be stocking up like crazy if they ever decide to discontinue it. It’s saved me so much money, and a bottle last forever. I used to highlight my hair once or twice a year too, now I have only once in like four years.
