I’ve never been one to exercise but I wanted to start running for several reasons. A few reasons I wanted to start running are:
To improve my health – I just want be healthy, and also lessen my chances of diseases and illnesses in the future. I also have stomach problems and heard that running can help with that.
For my mind– I feel like when I am active I feel better and have more energy throughout the day.
To keep up with my man – He loves to be active and I want to be able to keep up with him hiking, snowboarding and all those fun things.
I am not starting to run to loose weight as I am happy with my body. I really just want to be able to do things. I have a hard time doing anything active as I am not used to it and get worn out within a few minutes.
I really hate doing any exercise, I really have no motivation so this is a huge step for me. I kind of just woke up one day and said to myself; “Just bite the bullet and go for a run”. So that is exactly what I did.
I researched on Google how to start running as I really can’t run for even a minute without running out of breath totally. I found a plan that I thought sounded realistic and I decided to tweak it to what I wanted.
Here was my plan to start running for the first week.
I would walk for 5 minutes. Then start running at an easy pace for one minute. I would repeat that three times. I told myself I would do that at five times a week.
So I made it through the first week. I ran six of the seven days out of the week. I really wanted to try and keep going every night to get myself into the habit. I even ran in the rain. I hate rain.
I was very proud of myself to accomplish this. I know it may not sound like much to some, but for me it was huge.
Stay tuned to hear more about my running training.
