Visiting Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park + Black Sand Beaches

We stayed in the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park at the Kilauea Military Camp for 3 nights while in Hawaii. My boyfriend booked us a one bedroom cabin right inside the park, which was pretty neat. We were only a few minutes away from an active volcano.

There’s a lot to see and do inside of the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park and it would have been nice to have even more time there. I’m sure we will go back one day to see more of the park and island.

On our first day we decided to check out a bit of the area outside of the park so we drove around and visited a few waterfalls.

I really wanted to go to Akaka Falls which was about 11 miles from Hilo, not too far at all. So we decided to head there first and took a scenic route. Recommend doing the scenic route, you will see a sign for it along the way from Hilo.

Manoa falls is a waterfall in Manoa, Hawaii with a vertical drop of I believe 150 feet. The falls are about 35 minutes from where we were staying, Bellows Air Force Station. They are only 15 minutes from Waikiki, which makes it any easy spot to get to if you are staying in the city.

On the drive to my boyfriends house we decided to stop at Bridal Veil Falls which is located just off the highway in Rosedale, British Columbia.  My boyfriend lives about seven hours away from me and we took a longer more scenic route to his house this time.  Bridal...
