Summer is coming to an end and I bet you probably spent a little too much time in the sun.  I know I did.  Here are some foods that help fight sun damage.

Cherries
Cherries especially Montmorency cherries are a great source of antioxidant melatonin.  Melatonin protects the skin against ultraviolet radiation.  Cherries have been proven to help repair sunburned skin because it helps stimulate new skin cell growth.  And in case you didn’t know, cherries are packed full of vitamin C which is needed to build collagen.

Pomegranates
Pomegranates have a high antioxidant content and offer anti-inflammatory benefits to your skin.  Research has shown that they can also reduce the risk of skin cancer but reducing UVB radiation.

Fish
Fatty fish such as salmon can help protect your skin from inflammation cause by sun exposure.  The omega-3 fatty acids found in fish will also help keep your skin hydrated and glowing.

Green Tea
Green tea helps fight inflammation in the skin.  It neutralizes free radicals which reduces their ability to cause damage that leads to inflammation.  Green tea has been known to prevent wrinkles as well.  You can drink it warm or on ice since it is still summer.

By incorporating these 4 foods into your diet you may help prevent and fix sun damage.
